Bloomberg New Energy Finance research finds that small photovoltaic solar systems cost 37 per cent more in Australia than in Germany and the US.
The overseas price fell 29 per cent from 2010 to 2011 while Australian prices remained steady.
According to the report in The Sydney Morning Herald, generous government subsidies are pushing up prices.
