AusIndustry COMET grant rewards industrial inventions

A tool that uses laser lights to measure levels at construction sites is one of the lucky projects to be chosen to share in $3.6 million in the Government’s Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET) funding boost to help commercialise new Australian innovation.

The COMET program was designed by AusIndustry and was spearheaded by the Minister for innovation, industry, science and research, Senator Kim Carr.

COMET is designed to help Australian innovations gain a foothold in the marketplace, boosting the economy and supporting high-wage, high-skill jobs, says Carr.

The construction level measurement tool, which is designed to save builders time and lead to more accurate measurements, was developed by Steffco Pty Ltd, of Queensland.

Also receiving a grant was a self-supporting roofing system that can freely span up to 12 metres for curved applications, developed by Everbright Roofing Systems Pty Ltd, of Western Australia.

A list of the grants announced can be found at the AusIndustry website.
