AMEC has won a detailed design and engineering contract for the Roy Hill mine’s bulk ore handling facility.
The contract was awarded by Samsung C&T and will see AMEC operating at Port Landslide, in WA’s far north.
It is partnering with Halcrow to provide a combined team for the ore handling facility’s design and engineering.
Work has already begun, with completion scheduled for summer next year.
“This award is recognition of AMEC’s ability to provide fit-for-purpose solutions in complex mining environments,” Garry Dryburgh, AMEC’s Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific, said.
“It reaffirms our position as a leading service provider in the Western Australian iron ore industry.”
Roy Hill will start loading its first shipment of iron ore in 2015.
