Acquisition for Perth-based electrical engineering and mining control systems firm

Resource Development Group (RDG) will acquire Perth-based electrical and control systems firm Intellect Systems.

Intellect Systems provides electrical engineering, process control systems engineering and industrial information technology services to predominantly the mining and resources sector, but also in manufacturing, oil/gas, water and utilities.

It is involved in feasibility studies, project design, construction, commissioning and operations. It offers capabilities in electrical, control systems and communications design, software development, commissioning and training.

Clients include BHP Billiton, St Barbara, Thyssen Krupp, EPIC Energy, Jemena and the Water Corporation.

According to RDG, the move to acquire Intellect Systems will endow it with electrical engineering and control systems expertise, allowing further growth. RDG is currently in a spate of acquisitions with the aim of building a vertically integrated mining service business.

In February 2011, RDG entered into a conditional Share Sale Agreement to acquire Engenium, a  project delivery company servicing the resource and infrastructure sectors.
