ABB was independently selected by Maersk Contractors to supply integrated control and safety systems (ICSS) for the Aibel topside process module, the Türret by APL and for the Hull conversion by Keppel on the floating production, storage and off-loading vessel (FPSO).
ABB are providing the software and hardware to integrate the subsea control system into the FPSO ICSS. The systems will be integrated into a single control and safety system operated from the FPSO. The solution is based on ABB’s automation platform, Extended Automation System 800xA.
Maersk Contractors will use ABB’s System 800xA automation solution to integrate process control and safety systems at its FPSO. The Maersk operated FPSO will be deployed at Woodside Energy’s Vincent field, off the coast of Western Australia.
Peak production from Vincent is expected to be 60,000 — 80,000 barrels of oil a day from eight subsea production wells connected to the FPSO. The Maersk Contractor-owned oil tanker, Ellen Maersk, is currently being converted into a floating production vessel at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore.
The Vincent FPSO will be located about 40km off the North Cape of Western Australia at a depth of 350m. The field is operated by Woodside Energy, Australia’s largest oil and gas company, and is scheduled to go on stream in the third quarter of 2008.
