MakerBot's Thingiverse is showing no signs of slowing down.
The 3D Design Community for discovering, printing and sharing 3D models now has more than 160,000 members and 200,000+ downloadable digital designs of 3D models.
Thingiverse has become the largest place to discover and print 3D models. Members can share ideas, customise 3D prints, remix and collaborate.
There are even MakerBot Thingiverse superstar designers that share their design files, which users can download, print, share and get inspired.
Our fascination with cheaper 3D printing continues to grow. The recently-released mobile apps now allow users to share designs with a tap of their screen. Apple recently selected the iOS Thingiverse app as "One of the Best New Social Networking Apps."
"Bringing Thingiverse functionality to the fingertips of our community has always been a goal of ours," noted Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot.
"And now with the Android version of the app added to the already popular iOS version, Thingiverse users can access their favorites 3D models, collect and share them and view them on an Android or iOS device, whether at work or play."
Founded in 2009, MakerBot (a subsidiary of Stratasys) has built the largest installed base of desktop 3D printers. The MakerBot 3D Ecosystem includes: Thingiverse.com, the Digitizer Desktop 3D Scanner and the Replicator line of Desktop 3D Printers.
